Duck Hunt Massachusetts with Baymen Guide Service, Inc.

Today, I had the pleasure of guiding new duck hunter Michael Foran for puddle ducks in Massachusetts. We met bright and early at 4:30am, and headed for one of our very hot puddle duck ponds. In was raining, windy, with a dusting of snow – a good day for ducks!

We paddled the canoe in darkness, loaded with gear, to our brush blind and put out goose blocks, black duck, wood duck, and teal blocks. We also set up a mallard spinner. The spread looked great and we stashed the canoe and waited for open hours.

Like clockwork, right at open hours, the sky was filled with ducks. Tons of ducks this morning, pone of the best first light flights I have seen this season. Blacks, mallards, teal, woodies, coot, and Canada geese all came into our set. It was amazing action for three solid hours.

We finally called it a great morning and loaded up the canoe and paddled in, the rain started to really come down hard. Timing is everything, and we were in the right place for ducks this morning and back at the truck just as the skies opened up with the heavy rains.
