SEPTEMBER 25th
TODAY: 15 Fish, Keeper Bass, Blues… WIND!!!
On board this morning, I had Keith McDonald and friends for some LT fishing on the bay. At first light, the winds were howling out of the SW and they never let the entire morning. But they stayed steady and did not keep increasing, so we made the best of it and went hunting for bass and blues. First cast of the morning on Brown’s Bank: KEEPAH! A nice bass hit a 4″ rubber crank bait – on 45 pound wire leader! Blues were out and about, so we fished wire leaders the entire morning. We also picked up a few small bass off Long Beach in a foot of water.
Thank God I looked up bay at the right time and saw a big flock of gulls working about 1/2 mile away. The waters were very choppy, but the birds were working and we ran for them. We pulled into a small pod of solid medium blues knocking bait into air and tearing up the water. We rigged everyone out with top-water hard baits, poppers, and then back to rubber shads. The blues hit poppers and shads about 50/50. The fish screamed off line and ran into the winds and that made for awesome fish fights on the LT. A really cool thing happened: The winds were so strong, they kept blowing us right up onto Captain’s Flat when ever we had a fish on. So, I told my charters to jump off the boat, use the wind and waves to our advantage, and beach the blues on the sand right up to Captain’s flat! This was great fun and once everyone got it down, it was automatic. A few photos of the guys beaching blues are on my site under the Baymen Reports.
We wrapped up the morning with about fifteen fish total, three of them bass, including a fat keeper, and the rest were solid blues. It was a great morning and a nice turnaround from yesterday. I’ll leave you with some of my tired and true sayings: “Every Day Is Different, And No Two Tides Are The Same….” and “You Never Know, If You Never Go…”

SEPTEMBER 22
TODAY: Incredible Big Blues Blitz In Duxbury Bay!!!
On board this morning, I had repeat client, Russ Pelham for a light tackle charter. The SW winds were cranking this morning at 20 knots steady and it was pretty choppy. But my, didn’t big blues come pouring into the bay on the low tide rising! Insane numbers of blues in shallow water meant poppers on light tackle and scorching runs and long fights. Hundreds of birds were working over the rolling blues and we could count up to 60 blues in a pack going by the boat. And they were ultra aggressive – attacking our poppers two or three or more at a time right up to the boat. Just slamming them…! And the gear – they were destroying it as fast as I could rig it. we used 45 pound wire leaders and had some of the fish bite right through it. We had to back the boat down on at least ten of the fish with the light tackle. We just could not budge some of them against the sw winds. Let me tell you, light tackle (12lb and 15lb test) rods and spinning reels on these blues was an absolute blast…!
The good news is, I have tomorrow morning open for new bookings only if you want to go. We will leave Duxbury Town Pier at 6:30am and return around 11:00am. Three people max on this trip. All tackle is provided. If you want to experience light tackle blues fishing at its finest, give me a call and book for the morning. (781) 934-2838

AUGUST 27th: EAST WIND STORM COOLS BAY BITE

Capt. Dave’s
BAYMEN Fishing Report Duxbury, Kingston, Plymouth Massachusetts

FRIDAY August 27th
TODAY
We just came off three days of pounding East winds with ten foot waves onshore. I gave the bay one day to settle down, and then we went out this morning. It was dead out there, with very, very few fish in the bay at the moment. That will change, but it may take another tide or two or more… Time will tell. That said, SANTA, King Of The Powder Point Bridge, managed a nice keeper this morning of about 18 pounds, on chunk bait off the bridge at dead-low tide. He also caught two sharks. A few schoolies were around the bridge as well.
We are scheduled to be back on the water in the morning, but are watching the fishing conditions to see if things improve. Stay posted. Its going to turn around big time, but I’m just not sure when. A day or two or a week….

TODAY: 18 STRIPED BASS, 3 KEEPERS; 1 BLUE; 30 POLLOCK & MACKEREL
Happy First Day of Summer From Baymen Guide Service, Inc.! On board today, I had repeat client, Eric Kaldy and his friend, Harry, both of Norfolk. Eric has been fishing with me for many years. This was Harry’s first trip. It was a beautiful morning today at sunrise with dead-calm seas. Not a breath of air on the bay. You won’t believe this, but we found top-water breaking bass this morning and boated 9 fish! Amazing for this time of year…
After chasing top-water for a few hours, we ran outside and loaded up on pollock and mackerel! Yep, the macks are still out front and we boated about thirty along with the pollock. We ran the live bait back inside and caught several bass and our first bluefish of the season. After running our of bait, we ran back outside a second time and boated another bunch of mack and pollock. Back inside, we hooked into some nice bass in Duxbury, Kingston and Plymouth bay. Eric ended our morning with a big bass that made a scorching 150 yard run! It really screamed line off the spool as it ran the bay…
Total catch for the morning for two rods was 18 striped bass, 3 Keepers, 1 bluefish (our first of the season), and 30 pollock and mackerel. Not bad for the first day of summer!
Stay posted. All of our fishing report and photos are posted daily on our website under the Baymen Reports Tab. Check it out.

Duxbury, Plymouth Bay ON FIRE This Morning…!!!! 35 Bass, 3 Keepers

Capt. Dave’s
BAYMEN Fishing Report – Duxbury, Plymouth, Kingston Massachusetts
www.baymencharters.com (781) 934-2838
THIS MORNING Wednesday, June 9: BAY ON FIRE!!! 35 Bass, 3 Keepers
What a morning out there today. I don’t know where to begin. I had a charter last night and the bay was just dead. No top-water, no bait to speak of inside, and hardly any fish for Bill and the Boys. Eight hours later, I was back out on the bay and it was ON FIRE!!! The Almighty threw the switch and bait and bass poured into the bay this morning in amazing numbers…
On board this morning, I had repeat client Chris Mcconaughey and his fishing buddy, Steve. Both anglers have been fishing with me now for several seasons. At first light, we found four small schools of bass working under birds, scattered in Duxbury and Kingston bay. We worked the fish for a while, moving from school to school. They were very selective and a little skittish of the boat. We stayed at it and started to land bass on light tackle rubber crank baits with the Baymen Bounce and cast and count techniques. A small cold front began to move across the bay as the tide started to peak at high and man, did the bay ever turn on…!!! Lit up with bait, birds and tons of bass…
We fished new waves of fish pouring into the bay in Duxbury, Kingston, and to a lesser degree, Plymouth. Check out the photos of the birds over the fish. Just amazing! At one point, I decided it was time to fish one of my spots I call the aquarium. It was on fire and BIG fish were pushing bait. Everything was on top-water and Steve and Chris slammed them with the light tackle. Then, at the top of the tide, the front move south, and a very slight breeze came out of the East. The top-water shut down cold and the bay looked as dead as it did last night…
The bass were in the bay in crazy numbers on top for about three solid hours this morning. We saw and boated fish to twenty pounds, and many more in the low to mid-teens. Total catch for Steve and Chris was 35 bass, with 3 keepers in the mix. It was another amazing morning of world-class striped bass fishing on Duxbury and Plymouth bay, Massachusetts!
Three more trips to round out the week. Stay posed: Full Reports & Photos to follow.
TUNA BITE
The offshore tuna bite is very, very good right now with 200lb fish being landed regularly. Tom’s Toy brought in a 64″ incher yesterday and Johnny B brought in a 71″ incher.
FLOUNDER
The winter flounder are still in the bay. Find them in 12-25 feet. Spreader rigs with sea worms or clams.
BLUES
WE got bit off once this morning by a blue deep up in the bay. Expect to see more and more of them inside this month. Keep some wire handy in case you run into them. I have not been to the power plant, but they may be there now …
POWDER POINT BRIDGE REPORT
Keeper bass being landed daily now. Nothing really big but fish in the low 30′s” inches. Also some sea bass showing around the bridge. This morning, Santa hooked into a monster striped bass. HE said it was the biggest he has ever had on at the bridge. He could not get the fish in. It was very big and very heavy and finally wore out his hook. Santa said it had to be in the forty-fifty pound range.

BUG LIGHT COW, PEA SOUP FOG

Capt. Dave’s
BAYMEN Fishing Report – Tuesday, June 1, 2010
www.baymencharters.com (781) 934-2838
TODAY: 23 Bass, Bug Light Cow
On board today, I had repeat client, Jay Clancy from Norfolk. Jay has been fishing with me for the past fifteen years. At first light, we had dense fog, thunder & lightning, and a S/SW wind at ten knots. We waited for the storm to pass, put in, and were into top-water action within ten minutes. We got into about two acres of year-class bass of 15-25 inches. We worked them for a while and then ran around the bay looking for bigger fish. We ran to Gurnet and then along Browns, and then back in behind Bug Light. That’s where the big ones where hiding this morning. Jay casts into breaking fish and WHAM…!!!! A corker hits the rubber crank bait and makes a 100 yard dash for deep water…
One thing about Jay, he never drops a fish. He fights them perfectly. After some time, Jay brings the big bass alongside the boat and I net the fish. As I pull it over the gunwale, the hook drops out of its mouth. If Jay had slacked the line, rushed the fish, lost the bend in the rod, or gone too tight while feathering his drag as the fish was running, we never would of got that fish in the boat. But in fifteen years of fishing with Jay, he’s never dropped a big fish with me. He is so relaxed fighting afish, I often get jittery, wondering if he is actually going to bring it in!
Congratulations on another fine fish, Jay. A great day of light tackle striped bass fishing on Duxbury, Kingston, and Plymouth bay, Massachusetts! Back out today for a flounder trip this afternoon, and then back out tomorrow in search of more big bass…. Stay posted: *SEE MORE REPORTS UNDER THE BAYMEN REPORTS TAB*

FISH GONE, BAY VERY QUIET… 4 Bass, 1 Keeper

Capt. Dave’s
BAYMEN Report – Monday, May 17, 2010
www.baymencharters.com (781) 934-2838
FISH GONE, BAY VERY QUIET… 4 Bass, 1 Keeper
The massive schools of striped bass in Duxbury/Plymouth/Kingston Bay have left and the bay is very, very quiet. On board today I had repeat client, Rich Comstock from New York. Richard is a do or die fly rodder that has been fishing with me for many years. We have fished it all – fog, rain, wind, cold, and today – a very quiet bay…
If you have been following the BAYMEN Fishing Reports, you know the bay had an estimated 2,000 (???) striped bass on top-water for hours and hours at a time, for many days in a row. It was intense and amazing and those of you that fished it with me experienced it first hand. I had hopes that today would be more of the same but it was the exact opposite. All the fish have left the bay accept for a very small handful of bass. This will change, but that’s how it is today.
We did find a couple small schools of “pop-corn” striped bass in the bay and managed four bass and one keeper in nine hours. That’s a slow day. But it was still enjoyable to be on the bay. With fishing, you have to take it all in stride. Every day is different and no two tides are the same. We did take a nice mid-morning break waiting for the tide to change and went to Richard’s beach house to relax. Then, it was back out with hopes of fish coming into the bay on the rising tide, but it never happened. Tomorrow, Richard will be fishing with me again as part of his double-header fishing trip with BAYMEN Charters. Stay posted. A full report to follow.
