SIX BIRDS THIS MORNING
I guided Alex and Dan of Needham and Newton for waterfowl this morning on the Massachusetts coast, Central Zone. Decent flights at first light in a dense fog. Mostly wood ducks, a few blacks. Saw only two mallards all morning and no teal. It was beautiful out there and Alex and Dan took home six dinner birds. A great October morning on the water gunning waterfowl.

Another Lovely Morning For Duck Hunting
Just a beautiful fall day on the water today. Flights were excellent the first hour of sunrise and then it slowed right down. We put four birds in the bag and called it a great day of waterfowling on the Massachusetts coast!

A Well Placed Stand
A doe walks past “Snake” stand. I, of course, was sitting on “Stonewall” stand.
Rutting bucks will be following the does in a few days to a week…

Puddle Duck Hunt
We had a decent morning on the water today for puddle ducks. Flights were slow, but we still ended the morning with black duck, mallard, and wood duck. Saw some teal as well. Not a bad hunt for a warm October morning and a south wind.

Nothing Yet…
Nothing yet… The rut should start in one week from today here on the Massachusetts coast. Then bucks will be running crazy chasing the does. Drive safely out there. They will not hesitate to run in front of cars during the rut. Dawn and dusk are the most active times, but they could be darting across roads anytime when the rut is on. Typically October 27-November 30 are peak dates…
