9 for 12 Tonight on Largemouth Bass
Fly fished this evening for largemouth here on the Massachusetts coast. Landed 8 fish. Nothing big, but great fun on the frog fly! Then, switched over to light tackle and Larry’s Perfect Rubber Frog…KABOOM…!!! A big largemouth came out of the lily pads and slammed it! A great evening for fly and light tackle largemouth bass here on Massachusetts South Shore. Call me if you want to book a trip (781) 934-2838

18 Striped Bass, 8 Keepers, Monster Blues…!!!
On board this morning, I had repeat client, Howard Soep & Co. The plan was to fish light tackle for the first hour, and then settle down for some chunking. We never had a chance. The bay was stacked up with striped bass and MONSTER blues on the incoming tide at sunrise. Water temps were 53 degres to 67 degrees around the bay and a low pressure system was setting up over the water. PERFECT conditions for a mid-summer blitz! The fish kept coming into the bay in small waves and we ran from pod to pod all morning long. Eight of our striped bass were keepers up to 34” inches. Our biggest blue was a monster measuring 36” inches… Everything was top-water under birds and we fished light tackle the entire morning. A very, very rare day for late July by all accounts. My prayers were answered for this morning’s charter.

GUIDED FRESH & SALTWATER FISHING ON THE MASSACHUSETTS COAST
7 Fish, 25lb Keeper
James Barr and crew on board this morning for some fly and light tackle striped bass fishing. A lovely morning, beautiful sunrise, and dead-calm seas. We started in Duxbury, ran to Plymouth, and back up into Kingston. It was tough, slow fishing but we kept at it and kept moving, looking for fish. We found some top-water action but the bass and bait were very skittish. Numbers of bass were very thin. We also worked structure in many of my spots. Our last spot of the morning held a big fish – a whopping twenty-five pounder hiding out twenty feet down over an eel grass bed. Jim Barr worked the light tackle rubber crank bait down to the bottom and started working it back up…WHAM! Fish on! Jim played the fish perfectly on the light tackle, and five minutes later I netted a corker of a bass! A great way to end a lovely morning of light tackle fishing on the Massachusetts coast!

18 Stripers, 2 Keepers This Morning
A lovely morning on the bay today. Dead-calm, and stripers busting all over the place on top-water! It looked like the start of the fall run – but its still July. On board at sunrise I had Ben Fawcett, his two sons, Benjamin & Harrison, and Grandpa Terry. We were armed to the teeth with light tackle and we found the fish!
Last night, I scouted out the bay to find fish for this morning’s trip. I got into fish in Plymouth and Kingston and boated some shorts and a keeper on LT. This morning, I was confident the top-water fish would still be here. We found fish breaking in Duxbury and boated our first keeper right off Standish Shore on Captain’s flat. From there, we ran to White’s flat in Plymouth and found more bass. Then, right into the harbor we got into more stripers and some huge shad! All top-water, all light tackle rubber crank baits. We ended our morning tight to shore in the grass where the stripers had the bait boxed in. Ben picked up another nice keeper on light tackle in a couple feet of water.
It was a great morning on the bay and just amazing to have top-water action in the thick of summer. I am guiding the entire week, so check back for our updates on the fishing action around Duxbury, Kingston, and Plymouth bay.

Happy Monday from Capt. Dave & The Baymen. Here is all the latest fishing news…!
Capt. Dave has been guiding and slamming some big largemouth bass on South Shore
waters in July. Rubber frogging and rubber worming has given us some incredible evenings.
Two nights ago, we had forty hits from largemouth on a single pond in about three hours
of fishing. That is amazing action! We have fished a lot of water in July all over the
South Shore. Trust me – we have some great freshwater fishing in Southeastern
Massachusetts for fly and light tackle anglers. If you want to go, give me a buzz and book
a trip (781) 934-2838

With all the greart FW fishing and guiding we have been doing, the salt has taken a
back seat for several weeks. Summer is "typically" slower fishing on the bay. Our peak
dates for striped bass fishing on the bay are (you may want to write this down!!!) May 15th –
June 10th, and the second week of September through the first week of October.
Those of you that have been fishing with Baymen for the past sixteen years, know how good
it can be during those peak dates! All this said, if you scroll through our past seasons on
our websites homepage at www.baymencharters.com you can see exactly how we have
been doing all months of the year.
As we go into the final week of July, we have striped bass charters stacked up once again
and we will be on the bay every day this week (except Sunday, of course). There are tons
of bait in the bay, big and small, and we have had top-water action this past week, even
in this heat!!! The topwater fish have been small (12"-18")but a fly and light tackle
anglers dream for a morning of July fishing. For the bait anglers, cows are being caught,
nothing in great numbers, but they are here and a blast to catch on the baitrunners!
On the commercial front, the commercial striped bass quota was at 7% the last time I
checked. Massachusetts has set a quota of just over one million pounds of striped bass,
34" inches or great. Thats a lot of big fish coming out of Massachusetts waters on rod and reel.
BLUES UPDATE
Last season, the big blues showed up in our bay the last week of August in huge numbers.
It was insane action on topwater with fly and light tackle gear. These were big, big blues
up to three feet long, in 2-3 feet of water! The fights and runs were intense! Mark you
calendar for late August and early September for world-class blues action with BAYMEN.

Thats the word for today, Monday, July 25, 2011. Stay posted and I hope to have the
pleasure of guiding you this season!
